Your first destination along the Puno, Lake Titicaca, and Taquile Island Tour will be the city of Puno which rests 3,826 m / 12,549 ft. above sea level, upon the Collao Plateau. Dotted with churches and cathedrals across its cityscape, Puno preserves and celebrates its catholic faith and colonial history with pride and passion.
Lake Titicaca, bordered by Peru to the west and Bolivia to the east, is South America’s largest lake. It shelters 62 floating islands which are now home to over 1,200 Uros people. As legend has it, the floating islands were made by the Uros people out of reed some 3,700 years ago in an attempt to evade the Incans who sought to subjugate the Uros into slavery.
You’ll also get to explore the Uros and Taquile Islands on this 2 day tour, where you’ll be immersed in the life and culture of the Peruvians of the Puno district.
For treks and tours, the deposit is $200 + $10 service fee = $210 per person. The remaining balance must be settled before the tour.
