Lima, Peru’s capital and dubbed the City of Kings, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988. Peru’s bustling metropolis, Lima is home to about a quarter of Peru’s total population. Lima’s cultural and historical makeup is evidenced by the many churches, monasteries, palaces, and structures built during the age of Spanish colonization.
The charming city of Lima, the only South American capital city facing the Pacific ocean, is also hailed by locals and tourists alike as a great place to surf and catch some waves!
Itinerary
We’ll be kickstarting the Lima City Tour off in the coastal district of Miraflores, one of the most affluent districts in Lima characterized by a beautiful and modern cityscape and home to the Larcomar shopping center and Lima’s Love Park.
We’ll then head to the Historic Center of Lima which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988. Here you’ll get to lay your eyes on the famous Palacio de Gobierno, or the House of Pizarro, the official residence of the President of Peru.
We’ll then head to the Plaza de Armas in Lima, where the City of Kings was founded. Here, you’ll get to imbibe in the impressive architecture of the Plaza which was built by the Spanish conquistador Francisco Pizarro in 1535.
Our professional tour guide will take you through the socio-cultural history of Peru’s capital city, Lima as you traverse along the Lima City Tour taking pictures and enjoying the scenic view of the City of Kings.
We’ll then head back towards the San Francisco Monastery where you’ll get to see the catacombs of crypts of colonial Lima, an underground network and cemetery where over 25,000 people were buried during the Spanish colonization. With this, your enthralling Lima City Tour draws to a close.
