Rainbow Mountain & Red Valley Trek
Tour Overview
Bathed in a kaleidoscope of colors, Rainbow Mountain, also known as Vinicunca or Montaña de Siete Colores, is a must-see-sight for every travel enthusiast.
With stunning shades of turquoise, mustard, terracotta, and pink draped across its anatomy, Rainbow Mountain stands at an elevation of 5,200 m / 17,060 ft. above sea level. Surrounded by magnificent landscapes with a majestic view of the snow-capped Ausangate Mountain and the Red Valley, the Rainbow Mountain is truly a spectacle worth beholding.
A few hundred meters away lies the Red Valley which derives its name from the deep dark shades of terracotta and maroon that coats its surface. While the Rainbow Mountain’s colors are attributed to the richness of its mineral deposits, the Red Valley’s colors are attributed to rust due to the high levels of iron oxide present in the rocks.
